Lucan Branch

The Lucan branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann was re-formed in September 2008 after an absence of over 10 years.  The branch is run by a committee of committed volunteers who are elected by the members every year at it's Annual General  Meeting.  The Primary goal of the branch is to promote Irish Traditional Music, song, dance and the Irish language in the community by providing opportunities for people to learn and use these cultural traditions.  The branch does this through the organising of classes, workshops and through activities such as sessions, public performances and through participation in local festivals such as the Lucan Festival, the Saint Patrick's Day Festival and the Ruaille Buaille Children's Festival.

The branch conducts its classes in Gaelscoil Naomh Pádraig in Lucan on a Wednesday evening between 6pm and 9pm.  We offer classes in all disciplines and levels in traditional Irish music.  Most of our teachers are local to Lucan and all teachers have proved themselves in their field either through competitions, bands, performances and/or a great teaching history.

Being a young branch we are continuing to grow both in terms of size and in terms of instruments with just over a hundred students taking classes last year and having medal winners in the Dublin and Leinster Fleadhs, All-Ireland Fleadh and Feis Átha Cliath.  We hope to continue expand next year and add to variety of instruments taught and raise the profile of the Céili Bands and groups at all age levels.
